Amkor Technology is the world's largest U.S.-headquartered OSAT — outsourced semiconductor assembly and test — and the leading independent merchant supplier of advanced packaging: flip chip, wafer-level processing, 2.5D integration, high-density fan-out (HDFO), fine-pitch bumping, and advanced system-in-package. As Moore's Law slows and AI accelerators shift to chiplet-plus-HBM architectures, the binding constraint moves from leading-edge wafer fabrication to advanced packaging capacity. Amkor is the merchant alternative to TSMC's captive CoWoS franchise — the only independent player with the scale, qualification record, and CHIPS-gated U.S. footprint to absorb AI-packaging overflow.
The thesis is now backed by filed numbers, not narrative.
